I found these sounds at the Winsite software archive for Windows shareware in 1995. There was no copyright or provenance information at Winsite or in these files. Jeffery McConnell wrote in June, 2000 and said he felt these recordings were from the vinyl record album "Farewell to Steam" so I cannot guarantee that there are no copyright claims for these sound recordings. Use at your own risk.
Jeffery McConnell tells me that the "Santa Fe" recordings were made on the last steam special from LA to Barstow over Cajon Pass and that the "GS-4" recordings are from the SP Lark running around Santa Barbara. Thanks Jeff!
These files were processed and enhanced a bit for use on a software project (which never happened).
