I am a creative system designer, architect, and engineering manager with excellent
hands-on coding skills.
I have managed large teams and projects (as many as 95 reports -- more routinely
25 -- and budgets as big as $10 million annually) and specialize in large Microsoft
technology-based systems. I have experience working as a Technology Evangelist and
Principal Professional Services Architecture Consultant for .NET, .NET training,
.NET application programming and design. Win32 C/C++ (recent experience).
I have experience in day-to-day management of engineers, managing distributed teams,
technical project management, system architecture, design of the development environment,
deployment planning, establishing requirements, documentation, project planning,
research and development, budget planning and management, staff planning and recruiting,
security design, and handling end user support issues.
I am a scientist by training but have always loved machines and computers. I have
proven engineering management skills with large teams, multiple cross-dependent
products on tight budgets and tight timelines. I have championed major architecture
and product changes, saving money while keeping external product deliveries on track.
I recruit great teams and I effectively manage and maintain the respect of engineers
(even in the rare case that their skills are superior to my own).
